Here at Mayfair Dental Center, we make it our responsibility to monitor and maintain the oral health of our younger patients. We check to confirm their teeth are growing properly, and if we see a problem with the teeth’s alignment, we may recommend the use of braces as soon as possible. But we also recognize that kids don’t always like braces, and that’s why we offer Invisalign. For some patients, it's a much better option than traditional metal braces.
On the surface, traditional braces work like they’re supposed to. They gradually turn and move the teeth into a more even alignment. But in order to achieve this objective, a patient needs to make a lot of sacrifices.
The most notable difficulty with standard braces is how they look. Potential sharp edges and poking wires can also be very uncomfortable.
Adults also wear braces, and again the appearance can be an issue in the workplace. It’s not as easy to take anyone seriously when they’re wearing braces. Patients find it harder to sell to customers, to attract potential clients, to impress their boss, and to supervise their subordinates. Adults may find it harder to gain respect when other people see that they’re wearing braces.
There are practical difficulties too. Metal braces can be very fragile, which is why certain foods are not allowed. Patients are even advised to stick to soft foods in the beginning. Traditional braces are also hard to remove, and keeping them clean by removing bits of food can be tedious and difficult as well.
When you opt for Invisalign aligners, you don’t have to deal with any of these issues. That’s because Invisalign aligners are virtually undetectable. They’re made of clear material, and they’re designed to fit so well that there’s no need for metal brackets to keep them in place. So patients can wear them in public no one will realize that they’re wearing braces at all.
Its exact fit is due to our use of special 3D imaging technology. We are able to create a series of Invisalign aligners which are used one after the other according to a specific schedule.
Invisalign braces are also very easy to use. Patients can just discreetly pop them out when they’re about to eat. When they’re done eating, they can put it back in easily. It’s so simple, and no trouble at all. Cleaning it becomes a breeze, and so is brushing and flooding the teeth. That’s the advantage when a patient can just take the aligner out and put it back in. Best of all, Invisalign braces are just as effective in properly aligning the teeth.
